Afrekete the annual Afro-Cuban dance, music and culture festival returns to Magnetic Island in May 2025 and they'd love you to be a part of it.
From the official Friday Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party, through to the Sunday Closing Ceremony. Includes all dance and drumming workshops on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, PLUS the social dance night on Friday, and live Cuban band and DJ on Saturday night, through to the NEW Community Rhythm & Roots Showcase Sunday with Cuban food, market stalls, interactive drum and dance plus intercultural performances. Look out for our Afro-Cuban culture seminar on Wednesday 21st May too. As always, it's an amazing taste of the real Cuba in North Queensland!

JunkFest 2025 will showcase the transformation of discarded materials like metal, plastic, textiles, and cardboard into stunning art, fashion, and functional pieces. This celebration of sustainability in a festival environment will prove that waste can be re-imagined into something extraordinary.
